The project was designed in alignment with the Trans-boundary Animal Disease Zoning Trial Program in Yunnan Province, a long-term program approved by the Ministry of Agriculture, the Ministry of Commerce, the General Administration of Customs, and the General Administration of Quality Supervision, Inspection and Quarantine of China. The purpose of this project was to identify the major cattle and buffalo movement pathways between China and neighbor countries of Lao PDR and Myanmar, with particular focus on tracing animals entering Yunnan from these countries and transiting to other destinations within the PRC. It was also intended that the study would inform the identification of key counties along major animal movement corridors in Yunnan Province for the targeting of control measures to reduce the risk of FMD spread. The project was implemented by YASVI between July 2015 to June 2016 and a total grant of USD60,000 was received.
