High-level Launching of the Greater Mekong Subregion Health Security Project
A high-level gathering was organized by ADB on 6 July 2017 at Sofitel Hotel in Bangkok to officially launch the Greater Mekong Subregion (GMS) Health Security Project and endorse the declaration for the GMS health security and future health collaboration among countries in the GMS. The project is a $125 million loan and grant approved by the ADB Board on 22 November 2016 for Cambodia, Lao PDR, Myanmar, and Vietnam. The project has three outputs: (i) to improve regional cooperation and communicable disease control in border areas; (ii) to strengthen disease surveillance and outbreak response systems, and (iii) to improve laboratory services and hospital infection prevention in the GMS. The project will be implemented for 5 years, from 2017 to 2022.
