The ADB and the Ministry of Health (MOH) of Cambodia convened the 5th Greater Mekong Subregion Working Group on Health Cooperation Meeting (GMS-WGHC-5 Meeting) on 13–14 December 2022 in Siem Reap.
The Greater Mekong Subregion has been undergoing diverse and rapid agricultural transformation over the last decades and contributing majorly to the global food supply.
The transportation sector in the GMS is a major contributor to greenhouse gas emissions and air pollution, which contribute to climate change and negatively impact human health and the local and global environment.
The 25th Greater Mekong Subregion (GMS) Ministerial Conference (MC-25), held on 8 December in Luang Prabang, Lao PDR, was chaired by Lao PDR's Ministry of Planning and Investment Minister Khamjane Vongphosy. The ministers discussed the recent achievements, new initiatives, MC-25 deliverables, the GMS Business Council report, and the Development Partners’ Meeting outcomes.
The Asian Development Bank has approved a $62.9 million package to help Cambodia enhance food security and promote inclusive economic growth by improving livestock health and value chains, and the formal trade of livestock and livestock products.
An Asian Development Bank (ADB) article underscores that collective action helped contribute to combating the coronavirus disease (COVID-19) pandemic, and notes that expanding and deepening cross-border cooperation in Asia and the Pacific will help the region navigate newer economic challenges and the worsening climate crisis. A partnership between the Asian Development Bank (ADB) and Electricite du Cambodge (EDC), Cambodia’s national power utility, to develop a 100-megawatt (MW) National Solar Park reached a milestone with the park’s first 60 MW solar photovoltaic (PV) power generation plant connecting to the national grid. ADB President Masatsugu Asakawa marked the occasion with a visit to the solar park on 11 November, during which he initiated the start of power delivery.

ADB is helping the Lao PDR, through the Improved Sanitary and Phytosanitary Handling in Greater Mekong Subregion Trade Project, to supply skilled human resources who can help ensure a safe, healthy, and profitable product that benefits the Lao people and the Lao economy.
It is important for Lao PDR to have their own experts that know how to survey, monitor, understand and protect their food system. Having specialists that understand the context in which Lao plants can be grown and protected helps ensure that crops will be grown in harmony with local environments and communities.
