The Ministry of Tourism and Sports of Thailand is hosting the Mekong Tourism Forum (MTF) 2018 in Nakhon Phanom province from 26 to 29 June in collaboration with the Mekong Tourism Coordinating Office. This year's forum will focus on travel trends with the theme "Transforming Travel—Transforming Lives."
The annual forum brings together key stakeholders to discuss development, marketing, and promotion of travel in the Greater Mekong Subregion, and to monitor sustainable and responsible tourism growth.
The 2018 forum will be held at the Nakhon Phanom University. Topics for discussion will range from Buddhist Tourism to Responsible Tourism. Senior travel executives from different sectors will give mini keynotes, while young travel professionals will pitch key issues that the industry should focus on in the Mekong Opportunities & Threats sessions.
The highlight of the MTF 2018, called the Mekong Tourism Village Experience, will take place in eight villages around Nakhon Phanom. The villages will host thematic sessions, which include a welcome ceremony, traditional lunch, workshop, and interactive village activities, such as weaving and farming.
The tourism forum also has two side events: the Mekong Innovative Startups in Tourism (MIST) and the Mekong Mini Movie Festival.
