Viet Nam Sends Experts, Urgent Aid to Help Lao PDR Overcome COVID-19



Viet Nam will provide the Lao People's Democratic Republic (Lao PDR) $500,000 in urgent aid to support the country in overcoming the resurgence of the coronavirus disease (COVID-19).  

Viet Nam Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh extended a message of concern to Lao PDR Prime Minister Phankham Viphavanh, and expressed his belief that with his leadership and the determination and solidarity of the country’s agencies and its people, Lao PDR will soon bring COVID-19 under control. Prime Minister Chinh also tasked Viet Nam's Ministry of Health and other relevant agencies to share their experience in curbing the spread of the pandemic safe and environment-friendly agriculture products with Lao PDR authorities.  

In a virtual discussion on 29 April between the health ministers of both countries, Viet Nam committed to provide Lao PDR with 200 ventilators, 2 million medical facemasks, 10 tonnes of chloromin, and other medical supplies, and send experts to help Lao PDR set up a system of testing labs and establish COVID-19 treatment hospitals.
