Identifying Strategies and Policies to Improve Health Services’ Access and Availability for Ethnic Groups and Vulnerable Populations in the Greater Mekong Subregion

The Ministry of Health (MOH) of the Lao People's Democratic Republic (Lao PDR) conducted a Regional Workshop on Identifying Strategies and Policies to Improve Health Services’ Access and Availability for Ethnic Groups and Vulnerable Populations in the Greater Mekong Subregion (GMS) on 12–13 December 2019 in the Don Chan Palace Hotel, Vientiane. The workshop, which was financed under the GMS Health Security Project Loan 3465 and Grant 0516 for Lao PDR, provided an opportunity for GMS countries to identify effective approaches in improving health status and access to services for ethnic groups and vulnerable populations. One hundred and sixteen (116) participants, comprising (i) policy staff (responsible for ethnic minorities and vulnerable groups) of Ministries of Health  of Cambodia, Lao PDR, and Viet Nam and the Ministry of Public of Health of Thailand; (ii) provincial health services staff and outreach personnel of MOH, Lao PDR; and (iii) representatives of WHO, JICA, UNICEF, and World Bank attended in the workshop.
