LaoSafe Accreditation Welcomes Tourists Back to Lao PDR

LaoSafe, a health and hygiene program for the tourism and hospitality sector, was rolled out in the Lao People’s Democratic Republic by the country’s Ministry of Information, Culture and Tourism, to welcome tourists back safely into the country.  

Implemented with guidance from the Ministry of Health, LaoSafe sets benchmarks for different subsectors of the tourism and hospitality industry, including accommodation providers, food and beverage outlets, airlines, tourist attractions, tour guides and drivers. To date, 56 restaurants, 78 hotels, 623 tour guides, 241 drivers, and 2 airlines have received LaoSafe accreditation. View updates on the LaoSafe website.

LaoSafe was initiatlly piloted in popular destinations, including the UNESCO World Heritage city Luang Prabang. It is gradually being rolled out to other destinations across the country.  

The LaoSafe program was developed with the support of the governments of the Lao PDR, the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg and Switzerland, and implemented by the Ministry of Education and Sports of Laos, and LuxDev, the Luxembourg Development Cooperation Agency.
