Ninth Meeting of the GMS Working Group on Agriculture (WGA-9)

The 9th Meeting of the Working Group on Agriculture (WGA-9) of the Greater Mekong Subregion was held in Nanning, Guangxi, People’s Republic of China (PRC), on 4-6 July 2012.  The theme was “Innovative Financing through Public Private Partnership for Regional Investment in Low Carbon Agriculture in the GMS.”

The meeting was organized and sponsored by the Asian Development Bank (ADB) with the cooperation of the Ministry of Agriculture in the PRC, and attended by participants from the six GMS countries (Cambodia, People’s Republic of China, Lao PDR, Myanmar, Thailand, and Viet Nam), and ADB.

Resource speakers were from the public, private, and academic sectors, Food and Agriculture Organization, and ADB. Representatives of development partners also attended. ADB provided secretariat support.

A list of participants is in Appendix 1 and a copy of the Meeting Program and Agenda is in Appendix 2.

Included in the WGA-9 program was a field trip to the Pingxiang Tariff-Free Zone, Cross Border Market and Certificate Office near the border with Viet Nam, and the Guangxi Modern Agricultural Exhibition Center.
