Lao PDR, Supthavy Construction Sign Agreement for the Fourth GMS Corridor Towns Development Project



The Department of Public Works and Transport of the Lao People’s Democratic Republic (PDR), and Supthavy Construction Maintenance Complete Sole Ltd. signed an agreement for the fourth Greater Mekong Subregion (GMS) Corridor Towns Development Project. Mr. Khouanta Douanglaty, department director, and Ms. Chinadavone Siritham, President, Supthavy Construction led the signing.  

The project will develop two Lao PDR towns—Pakxan district, Bolikhamsai province, and Thakhek district, Khammouane province—two of the least developed towns along the GMS Central Corridor in Lao PDR. Total project cost is $54 million, with ADB contributing $48 million and the Government of Lao PDR providing supplementary financing of $6 million. The project will help improve urban environmental services and enhance regional economic connectivity. The project will finance improvement of solid waste management, upgrading of urban road and drainage riverbank protection, upgrading of the river port, urban renewal, and urban recreation provision.
