Lao PDR, Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region, PRC, Discuss Further Strengthening Ties in Agriculture, Tourism

Lao PDR Prime Minister Sonexay Siphandone, in his meeting with the Chairman of the Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region (GZAR), People's Republic of China (PRC), Mr. Lan Tianli, expressed hopes of enhancing their relationship further. He (i) suggested that Mr. Lan introduce a special policy for agricultural products from Lao PDR that will allow Lao PDR produce to be sold in PRC markets; (ii) expressed hopes that more businesses from PRC would invest and/or enter into joint ventures in Lao PDR, particularly in the fields of agricultural processing and industrial production; and (iii) suggested that GZAR increase promotion of tourism through the cross-border railway between Lao PDR and PRC, cross-border expressway, and other routes. He added that 2024 is Visit Laos Year.

Mr. Lan committed for GZAR to continue assisting Lao PDR in human resource development and investment promotion.
