Guangxi Opens Ports for Cross-border Trade

The Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region (GZAR) of the People’s Republic of China (PRC) has opened seven highway ports and one railway port for cross-border cargo with normalized customs clearance processes. Statistics from the GZAR’s Department of Commerce reported that 3,344 vehicles entered and exited through Guangxi’s border highway ports during the May Day holiday in 2022. The May Day holiday is one of the peak travel times in the country.   

On 5 May, the PRC–Viet Nam train that will carry medicinal materials imported from Viet Nam was launched at GZAR's Pingxiang railway port. The train will run on a regular basis. It will help deepen cooperation between the PRC and Viet Nam in the field of traditional Chinese medicine. GZAR’s Nanning, Dongxing, Pingxiang, Longbang, and Aidian border ports are also open for import of medicinal materials from ASEAN countries. 

GZAR’s Youyiguan Port has launched a non-contact verification system using automatic temperature measuring detectors and high-definition cameras installed at the customs inspection gate. These are capable of performing non-contact temperature detection and paperwork verification on designated drivers for cross-border cargoes.
