Eighth Meeting of the Subregional Telecommunications Forum (STCF-8): Summary of Proceedings

The Eighth Meeting of the Subregional Telecommunications Forum (STCF-8) held in Bangkok, Thailand on 29-30 May 200, was co-organized by the Thailand Ministry of Information and Communication Technology (MICT) and the Asian Development Bank (ADB).

The STCF-8 meeting's objectives were: (i) to define the future scope of GMS cooperation for telecommunications development through, among others, the preparation and Implementation of the GMS telecommunications development strategy and plan of action; (ii) to determine the proper organizational arrangements or structure for continuing the coordination of telecommunications sector initiatives, including clarifying the future role of STCF; and (iii) to enhance the effectiveness of development partners' assistance in promoting telecommunications development within the GMS.
