The Lao PDR aims to promote quality, sustainable, inclusive, and green growth in the context of recovery from the COVID-19 pandemic, and to graduate from least developed country status in 2026.

This brochure highlights ADB’s five-decade long partnership with the Lao People’s Democratic Republic (Lao PDR) and shows how they are working closely together to support sustainable, inclusive, and green growth.

ADB continues its support to help Viet Nam enhance climate-resilient transportation, promote sustainable urban development, improve rural connectivity, and reduce pockets of poverty in remote areas.

This brochure outlines how ADB partners with the ASEAN to strengthen regional cooperation and integration to help drive growth, a green recovery, and inclusion.This includes support for capacity building, knowledge sharing, and policy dialogues for the B-I-G Capacity Building Program for Connectivity for Brunei Darussalam-Indonesia-Malaysia-Philippines East ASEAN Growth Area (BIMP-EAGA), the Indonesia-Malaysia-Thailand Growth Triangle (IMT-GT), and the Greater Mekong Subregion (GMS). 
 

The objective of the Greater Mekong Subregion (GMS) Knowledge Network (GMSKN) is to provide expertise, stimulate discussion, and raise awareness on relevant and emerging issues in the GMS.

Building digitally-connected Greater Mekong Subreion Economic Corridors

ADB has worked out a core pipeline of projects for 2022–2024 that uses more responsive financing modalities and considers Viet Nam’s priorities for medium- and long-term post-pandemic recovery.

ADB supports Thailand in responding to the health, social, and economic impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic. In 2021, ADB provided $1.5 billion loan to help the country mitigate the negative economic impact of the pandemic.

ADB is one of Lao PDR's largest sources of official development assistance, with an average annual lending of $100 million over the 5 years to 2021.

ADB is one of Cambodia's largest sources of official development assistance, with average annual lending of $329.8 million from 2016-2021. The bank's support is aligned with the Cambodia's National Strategic Development Plan 2019-2023.
