The Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) have identified 19 priority infrastructure projects to enhance regional connectivity and mobilize investments. Fifteen of the projects are in the Greater Mekong Subregion.

BANGKOK, THAILAND (9 November 2018) — The Asian Development Bank and Gulf SRC Company Limited have signed a $227.7 million loan agreement to help finance the construction and operation of a first-of-its-kind 2,500 megawatt combined cycle power plant in Chonburi Province of Thailand.

BANGKOK, THAILAND (23 February 2018) — The Asian Development Bank signed a loan equivalent of up to $235 million with B.Grimm Power Public Company Limited, one of the largest power producers in Thailand, to develop and enhance renewable energy capacity in member countries of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations.

The Greater Mekong Subregion has significant potential to develop renewal energy, but it also faces major challenges.
About 70 participants attended the First Planning and Consultation Workshop on the Greater Mekong Subregion (GMS) Energy Sector Strategy held in Bangkok, Thailand on 31 July 2006. The participants included senior government officials and policy makers from the GMS member economies, as well as representatives from academia, civil society, development partners, and the private sector.
The Special 12th RPTCC meeting (RPTCC-12-A) was held mainly to continue discussions on the inter-governmental MOU to establish the Regional Power Coordination Center (RPCC), which will oversee the evolution of the GMS power market toward a more open, but appropriately regulated competitive market.
MANILA, PHILIPPINES (21 August 2014) – The Asian Development Bank is supporting a 290-megawatt hydropower project in the Lao People’s Democratic Republic under a public-private partnership arrangement.
