Project Description

The Project involves the improvement and upgrading of the facilities at Siem Reap (SRA) to ensure safe and efficient operations for airline operators and passengers and to cope with the increasing traffic expected to be received. In addition, the improvements are designed to comply with the safety practices and standards promulgated by the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO). The Project airport is located near the Angkor Wat historical site northwest of Phnom Penh.

  • Number of passenger arrivals and departures at Siem Reap Airport was approximately 146,000 in 1995 and increased to 345,171 in 2000, 442,059 in 2001, 578,949 in 2002, and 541,620 in 2003. By the adoption of the Open Sky Policy in December 1999, the number of international visitors to Siem Reap increased from 77,143 in 1999 to 154,680 in 2000.
