Project Description
The project contributes to enhancing regional trade integration by boosting Myanmar-s export capabilities through both policy and financial support during Myanmar Trade Promotion Fund (MTPF) implementation. MTPF is aligned with the Myanmar-s National Export Strategy 2020-2025, which aims to capitalize on trade opportunities through agro-products in priority sectors, which in the long term will evolve to reflect the improvement of Myanmar-s economic complexity and increase Myanmar economic integration. MTPF provides an innovative funding scheme for exporters whereby USD-dominated loans with longer maturity and competitive interest rates are available through which project cash flows projections are introduced and applied by PFIs in assessing viability and creditability of end borrowers - exporters. Being one of the less de- veloped member in GMS and ASEAN, Myanmar through this support could catch up with neighboring countries and better positioned to bring mutual benefits to the subregional and regional integration. The project, of which the loan pro- ceeds will be used to capitalize the Myanmar Trade Promotion Fund (MTPF) is to support the operationalization of the MTPF and aligned with the impact of competitive, diversified and branded products developed by expanding productive capacities and fostering innovation. Its outcome is trade competitiveness of Myanmar products enhanced through better access to finance by trade-related businesses to upgrade capacity, including to produce higher quality and higher value products to gain better.
