Project Description

The proposed project will help improve the capacity for, and effectiveness of, tourism statistical information research and tourism human resources development in GMS countries. The proposed project will become a pilot project and a -think tank- for tourism vocational education. Based on the Guilin Institute of Tourism (GIT), the project will function as a tourism educational technological export and scientific information center, providing strong technological and human resource support for the sustainable development of the GMS, and enhancing exchanges and cooperation among tourism schools across the region. The PRC suggests including in the project scope: the construction of a GMS tourism vocational education park, international conference center, tourist cultural museum and R&D base for tourism commodities, laboratory to improve commercial and management abilities, and a high-quality tourist hotel. The PRC also proposes a separate but similarly titled technical assistance (TA) to include standard-setting tourism-related vocational education, the development of a database for a tourism-related vocational-education curriculum and teaching resources, educational management training, a union of regional tourism schools, and international educational exchanges and cooperation.
