Project Description
The objective of the TA is to undertake the first phase of the preparatory work for the project. Specifically, the TA will (i) prepare the cumulative impact assessment study; (ii) strengthen government institutional capacity to implement hydropower development projects effectively, particularly social and environmental impact mitigations and project management; (iii) build government capacity for effective communication with all stakeholders; (iv) identify compensatory component for Nam Theun 2 project submergence area; and (v) facilitate coordination with civil society through domestic and international nongovernment organizations. New settlement area was initiated due to the Greater Mekong Subregion Nam Theun 2 Hydroelectric Project. Villagers were provided with new homes complete with clean toilets and access to electricity.
