Project Description

Based on the unique advantages of geography, resources, environment, and technology, the project will promote characteristic and advantageous agriculture and develop a series of agro-products of geographical indications (GI) to build the industry cluster of characteristic and advantageous agriculture in the GMS. Main project components include (i) improvement of agricultural infrastructure construction for GI products; (ii) agricultural science and technology innovation and extension services for GI; (iii) reform and innovation of management and operation of GI agriculture; (iv) capacity building and knowledge innovation; and (v) awareness raising and marketing.

Progress (as of March 2021)

Proposed. (Endorsed by the Second GMS Agriculture Ministers- Meeting, September 2017). PRC: has not confirmed borrowing but retains interest. CAM wants to retain but needs to be verified for future programming. Lao PDR is continuing interest and details of the project should be discussed with other related agencies. Myanmar will not continue to support the project.
