Project Description
Each country defines agro-industrial zones (AIZ) subprojects to promote safe and environment- friendly agriculture products (SEAP) with focus on (i) demonstrations for small and medium- sized enterprises (SMEs); (ii) processing, packaging, and labeling facilities, common post- farm product facilities (cold storage and warehouses), laboratories, one-stop shops for inspection, and quarantine for SEAP products; (iii) strategic collection centers linked to common post-farm facilities that empower the farmers and community via quick testing and access to quick and reliable testing; (iv) supply chain management; (v) aquaculture value chain development; (vi) tools to ensure quality assurance; (vii) capacity building and institution building, and research and development (R&D); (viii) promotion of participatory guarantee systems; (ix) integrating with SEAP wholesale markets or organic retails markets; and (x) integrating with biochar and waste management.
Progress (as of March 2021)
Proposed. (Endorsed by the Second GMS Agriculture Ministers- Meeting, September 2017). Cambodia wants to retain but needs to be verified for future programming. PRC: No update but retains interest. Lao PDR is continuing interest and details of the project should be discussed with other related agencies. Myanmar will continue to support the project. Viet Nam retains interest; this project should be included into the CPM agenda to discuss with related ministries.
