Project Description

(a) support for establishing a river transport strategy as part of the construction of a multi-modal transportation system; (b) conducting a feasibility study for a multi-modal transportation system for priority ports to be integrated with other modes of transport; (c) conducting research in priority regions on riverbank erosion and establishing improvement measures; (d) establishing river port infrastructure improvement measures for tourism revitalization; (e) establishing a plan for an information system in the field of customs exports and imports (f) exchange of information on engineering, construction and operations in the field of river/seaport systems; (g) sharing of technology and experience in the area of port development and operations; (h) exchange of human resources, such as port experts, and the provision of training; (i) joint participation in port engineering, construction and operations projects in areas of mutual interest; and (j) any other areas of cooperation that may be jointly decided upon by the Participants.

Progress (as of March 2021)

Ongoing. (proposed for inclu- sion by Lao PDR on 28 July 2020) A feasibility study for a multi-modal transportation system is ongoing and will be completed end of August 2020.
